With her retrospective at Tate Modern running through 8 September 2019, Natalia Goncharova in all her different facets is being honoured as the exceptional artist that she was. Perhaps Goncharova would actually have fit better in the 21 st century art world, where the schizophrenic fragmented condition of our contemporary world has created a breeding ground of artists working between countless different styles and disciplines.

Katherine Goncharova was born in Kishinev, the capital of Moldova, in 7th July, 1986. She finished Kharkov Art Lyceum at Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. She has been a student of the Academy since 2003 in Restoration of Easel and Mural Painting. Goncharova's lifelong partner was fellow Russian avant-garde artist Mikhail Larionov. She was a founding member of both the Jack of Diamonds (1909–1911), Moscow's first radical independent exhibiting group, the more radical Donkey's Tail (1912–1913), and with Larionov invented Rayonism (1912–1914). Goncharova heard, felt, and really "opened her eyes" to the colour — which didn’t hold her from raising a stink with Larionov.However, in those three days after the disagreement, until the artists saw each other, the painter was born from the sculptor.
